MoccaBoard Launch

Yellow Moccamaster coffee maker with MoccaBoard modular accessory system holding filters, scale holder, and brewing tools.

The first MoccaWorks product is the MoccaBoard.

From the beginning, the goal was not just to attach storage to the side of a Moccamaster. It was to design something that felt purposeful within a very constrained space, and that worked with the existing design of the machine rather than against it.

The side panel of the Moccamaster gives you a limited footprint to work with, so every dimension of the board had to be considered carefully. The peg placement, accessory layout, and board proportions were all optimized to make the most of that space while still feeling visually at home on the machine.

The result is a compact modular platform that creates storage and utility without overwhelming the brewer.

Designed for a Constrained Space

A big part of the design challenge was efficiency.

The MoccaBoard uses a simple peg system with only three layers of engagement, allowing accessories to be moved from point to point while keeping the overall design compact. Each accessory was designed with tight tolerances so that as much functionality as possible could fit within the limited footprint available on the machine.

That balance mattered from the start. The board needed to feel dense and purposeful, not oversized or improvised.

Fully Removable by Design

One of the priorities throughout development was removability.

Taping, gluing, or permanently fastening something to the side of the machine was never the goal. The board needed to be secure in use, but easy to remove for cleaning, maintenance, or swapping components.

To do that, I designed a set of feet that mesh with the grooves in the Moccamaster body. After testing several versions, I arrived at a geometry that fit securely while still being easy to install and remove. Those feet work together with two rubber bands that hold the board against the machine and keep it stable while interacting with the accessories.

The result is a mounting system that stays in place during use, but can be removed in under ten seconds.

A Platform, Not Just a Part

The MoccaBoard is the platform. The real idea behind it is that different accessories can be added, removed, and rearranged depending on how you use your machine.

At launch, the system includes:

  • O4 Filter Holder

  • Scale Holder

  • Dosing Cup + Holder

Together, these pieces bring some of the most commonly used brewing items onto the machine itself and free up surrounding counter space.

Custom Fit Scale Holders

One advantage of producing these parts through 3D printing is the ability to make accessories that are more specific than mass-produced parts usually allow.

That is especially true for the scale holder. Rather than forcing a generic solution, I’m designing scale holders to match the dimensions of the specific scales people actually use. That allows for a much cleaner fit and makes the system more useful day to day.

Instead of adapting your tools to the accessory, the accessory can be adapted to your setup.

What’s Next

The MoccaBoard is intended to be a platform rather than a single accessory.

Additional modules and attachments are already in development, expanding the types of tools that can live directly on the machine. The goal is to continue refining the brewing workflow and explore new ways the board can be used.

Because many of these ideas come directly from daily use, feedback and suggestions from other Moccamaster owners are always helpful. If there’s a tool, accessory, or workflow improvement you’d like to see, feel free to reach out.
